Seems like Logitech is really serious about its keyboards here in Malaysia and has announced 3 of its latest; supporting a wide range of uses covering mobile devices, home, and even gaming. Rounding up its offering, Logitech is also introducing one of its latest wireless mouse here.
Logitech Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard K480
The K480 is claimed to be the first to of its kind that supports multiple operating systems (Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, as well as Android and iOS) while providing the typing-comfort of a full-size keyboard on portable devices such as smartphones and tablets. The keyboard can be connected via Bluetooth (up to 10 m in range) with up to 3 devices at one time and move between them using the Easy-Switch dial. The K480 also has a slot to prop up a phone and/or tablet at an upright angle while typing or reading. The keyboard uses 2 AAA batteries which provides up to 2 years of battery life, and comes with a battery life indicator as well as an On/Off power switch.
The Logitech Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard K480 comes in two colour schemes (Black with yellow highlights or White with grey highlights), and are available now at all authorised resellers for RM 179.
Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 Plus
This year’s K400 Plus is an update over the K400 which came out in 2013. The K400 Plus comes with the same 3.5” touchpad, a 10-metre Bluetooth range, and a 2.4 GHz unifying receiver (that connects up to 6 Logitech devices to one computer) as its predecessor, as well as the same 2 x AA battery requirement. What’s missing here though is the USB range extender. Still, there’s nothing to complain as the Plus boasts a longer battery life (6 months longer at 18 months) and it now supports Android and Chrome OS, on top of the Windows 7, Windows 8 and even the brand new Windows 10 operating systems.
The K400 Plus has an On/Off switch, easy access volume controls (mute, volume up, volume down) and arrow keys, a separate button that mimics the left-click function of a mouse, shortcut keys for both Windows and Android users, and its comfortable keys are also claimed to be quiet (within 55 dBA). Windows users can take the keyboard a step further with the Logitech Options software which allows for customisations of the key and touchpad settings.
The Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 Plus has an SRP of RM 159 and is available in Black or White colour options.
Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn – Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Logitech has got gaming covered too with an ultra-light compact mechanical keyboard. The compact design would also mean that it’s smaller than regular keyboard but Logitech explains that this gives extra space for the mouse. The G310 Atlas Dawn keyboard is not wireless as the two above but it’s probably by design: wireless devices are known to introduce lag, and then there’s that battery charge/swap action going on in-between games.
The G310 also features Logitech’s own Romer-G mechanical switches that is supposed to provide up to 25% faster actuation and to be 40% more durable. The hollow design of the switch allows for the keys to have a centre-illuminated backlight that covers the entire top surface of the key, as opposed to only half with other competing switches. The lighting can be further tweaked to preferred levels, for glow patterns and effects, with the Logitech Gaming Software. The backlight can even be turned on/off and a separate Game Mode can highlight only the special keys (that are used for gaming).
The keys themselves have what Logitech calls ‘Performance Facet Keycaps’. The shape and layout of the keys help to provide tactile feedback on fingertip position; users can now reposition their fingers more accurately without having to actually look at the keyboard.
Another interesting feature is the support for Arx Control and the keyboard comes with its own built-in dock. The Arx Control and its accompanying app (for Android and iOS) works on a second screen (a smartphone or tablet) to provide additional in-game info, vital system statistics, and more (where supported) to users. The dock can be placed anywhere to suit the user’s visual preference when in use and then stowed away within the keyboard when not.
The Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn compact mechanical gaming keyboard is available now for RM 499 and is only available in one colour. The keyboard comes with a 2-year limited hardware warranty.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2 – Wireless Mobile Mouse
The MX Anywhere 2 mouse comes with an advanced Darkfield Laser Sensor that works on almost any surfaces, including glass (as long the glass is at least 4 mm thick) or on those that are highly glossy. Logitech has combined the best in connectivity, size, and comfort to produce a mouse that is easy to carry around in bags, and with a rubber surface that adds comfort even with prolonged use.
The mouse has dual-connectivity in the form of either the (included) Pico Unifying Receiver or via Bluetooth Smart. Using the Logitech Easy-Switch button (found under the mouse), users can switch between the 3 different computers that the mouse can simultaneously connect to.
The mouse’s scroll wheel works two ways: the hyper-fast mode with free scrolling wheel that allows users to run through long pages effortlessly, or the click-to-click mode where users can press on the wheel and move for a much precise scroll.
A full charge on the built-in rechargeable (500 mAh Li-polymer) battery provides for up to two months of use, and a one minute quick-charge using the supplied micro-USB cable allows for 2 hours of operation. To add to this convenience, the advanced power management system of the mouse also allows for users to continue using the mouse even while charging.
The mouse works with Windows 7 or later, and with Mac OS X 10.8 or later. Users can also install the Logitech Options software to customise the functions and features of the mouse (including wheel and cursor speeds), as well as to replicate touch gestures.
The Logitech MX Anywhere 2 wireless mouse is available now for RM 329 and comes with a 1-year limited hardware warranty.
