Logitech Malaysia has announced the availability of one of its cheapest wireless mouses to date with the Logitech M171 Wireless Mouse (the other being the Wireless Mouse M165 minimalist mouse for Mac). The mouse comes in Black/Grey, Black/Red, and Black/Blue colour options with a suggested retail price of RM 49 (with GST). It comes with a 1-year limited hardware warranty, and is available now from MCL Berhad as well as M-Link (M) Sdn Bhd.
M171 works on the 2.4 GHz wireless that connects to its own Nano receiver (USB 2.0), and will allow the mouse to roam up to 10 metres away from the receiver. Unfortunately, it looks like the mouse does not support Logitech’s own Unifying Receiver. So, even if you already have a Unifying Receiver, it looks like you’ll still need another port for this other receiver.
The M171 uses a single AA battery which will keep it going for about 1 year. The mouse works on Windows 7/8/10, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, Chrome OS, and Linux too, running kernel 2.6 and above. It comes with Logitech Advanced Optical Tracking with a sensitivity of 1000 dpi.

With its ambidextrous design, the mouse not only works for both left or right hand users but the functions of the buttons can be reversed too if needed. That last feature and other software based options can be configured with the use of Logitech Options Software.
With wireless mouses from reputable brands now costing as low as the M171, the time is as good as any to cut the cords. The only thing you will have to ensure now is an empty USB port for the receiver.
