We like the HTC One (M8) a lot during our review of this device, and though we generally like its Dot View case too, its flip case design and limited features leaves much to be desired. HTC knows this and has just issued an update to its Dot View app.
The app’s latest update is dated July 11th, as shown on its Google Play Store page. The aim of this update is to make the Dot View cover smarter and more intuitive for M8 users. Initially launched together with the M8, the perforated dot matrix cover allows users to view the time and weather, as well as receive basic notifications like incoming calls, texts, emails, et cetera.
With this current update, Dot View now allows wallpaper customizations, along with other flexible settings like the ability to view the last three call history without having to unlock a passcode-enabled screen. This can be invoked by a simple upwards swipe on the cover itself.
It is also even easier now to browse through phone notifications without having to reveal the display, by left and right swipes on the icon. With new themes making a total of 18, there is also the option to pick a personal photo from the camera or gallery.
HTC One (M8) is still retailing at RM2,399, and the Dot View Case is going for RM149.
