Xiaomi recently celebrated its 5th year anniversary by launching five new products which we’ll mention later in this piece, but the Malaysian branch is joining in on the fun when it announced on March 31st, our very own Mi Fan Festival which will happen today, April 8th, at 12pm, during which seven “new” products of limited supply will be on sale.
In case you couldn’t make it for the 12pm flash sale, Xiaomi Malaysia is kind enough to open up the 8pm time slot to offer these products as well. They’re not really new devices per se; some are just accessories, others, just new color variants:
- Redmi 2 (Dark Grey) — RM449
- Mi Power Bank 5000mAh (Red) — RM40
- Mi LED Light (Available in blue or white) — RM16
- Mi Band Strap (Available in blue or yellow) — RM16
- Mi Phone Holder (Moo Cow Blue) — RM10

The seventh new product was only announced a few days later, and it happened to be the high-end-but-affordable, Mi Headphones which we’ve covered previously, during the Mi Note event. It is one sweet-looking pair of headphones with rose gold accents like the Pistons in-ear buds, that comes with on-ear and even over-ear pads (which is rare, as it’s usually one or the other). Mi Headphones will be retailing at RM319.
Despite the two flash sales time slots at 12pm and 8pm, the Mi Fan Festival will run from 10am until 10pm today, where Xiaomi claims, you could enjoy up to 90% in discounts. The five new products Xiaomi launched in China were the pink colored Mi Note (for the ladies), a 55-inch Mi TV 2 (because your 47-inch Mi TV 2 isn’t big enough), the Mi Power Strip (because why not?), the Mi Smart Scale (that can talk to your Android or iOS), and the Redmi 2A (what the Redmi 2 should’ve been). Xiaomi continued boasting about how it has become China’s top smartphone vendor in 2014, according to IDC. This is frankly unprecedented, considering that Xiaomi just turned five years old two days ago on April 6th. CEO Lei Jun went on to note that this year’s anniversary is a key milestone, and thanked all Mi Fans for their support the past five years.
